Lisa Algozzini is an Italian-American soprano who has been praised as "powerful and rich in substance" by Der Tagesspiegel and for her "remarkable performance" by OperaPlus. She has debuted all 3-ladies of DON GIOVANNI: Zerlina, Donna Anna and most recently Donna Elvira with the Apollon Theater in Greece and the State Opera of Liberec in Czechia where her portrayal earned her a nomination for the Best Singer of 2020 at the theater and has been described as "an astonishing Donna Elvira" by Efsyn, Greece.
Upcoming performances include her anticipated role debuts as Nedda in PAGLIACCI with Opera West in Santa Fe and Fiordiligi in COSI FAN TUTTE as well as Donna Elvira in DON GIOVANNI with the Rhodes International Festival in cooperation with Teatro Grattacielo and as the Soloist in concerts with the Festiwal Jana Kiepury Krynica-Zdrój in Poland and the Orquestra Sinfônica do Rio Grande do Norte in Brazil.
Specializing in the repertoire of Mozart, in addition to the 3-ladies of DON GIOVANNI, she has performed Despina in COSÌ FAN TUTTE with the Teatro del Pavone in Italy where she was partnered with La Scala baritone Bruno Praticò as Don Alfonso, Susanna in LE NOZZE DI FIGARO with the Teatro de la Paz in Mexico, Trentino Music Festival in Italy and Manhattan Opera in New York and Mademoiselle Silberklang in DER SCHAUSPIELDIREKTOR with the National Theatre of Malta.
Moving into verismo repertoire, she has performed Musetta in LA BOHEME with the Opernspiele Munot in Switzerland, Lauretta in GIANNI SCHICCHI at the State Opera Plovdiv and the State Opera Stara Zagora in Bulgaria, Nedda in PAGLIACCI upcoming in 2022 and has covered Mimi in LA BOHEME.
Other roles of note include the title role of Handel's ALCINA with the Oper Schloss Rheinsberg in Germany, Gretel in HÄNSEL UND GRETEL with the Festival de Opera San Luis in Mexico, Poppea in L'INCORONAZIONE DI POPPEA with the Greek Opera Festival in Athens and Adina in L'ELISIR D'AMORE in Croatia.
Ms. Algozzini is an alumna of many elite music institutions including The Juilliard School, Aspen Music Festival, Renata Scotto Opera Academy in New York, Dolora Zajick Institute for Young Dramatic Voices, Nico Castel's New York Opera Studio and the Opera Studio at l'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome again studying with her mentor the renowned soprano Renata Scotto. She currently studies in Berlin with the Romanian dramatic soprano Lavinia Chereches. She was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and holds both US-American and Italian citizenship while currently residing between New York City, Southern California and Vienna, Austria.
