BIOGRAPHY

Lisa Algozzini is an Italian-American soprano praised by The New York Times for her performance “filled with gripping details” and as "powerful and rich in substance" by Der Tagesspiegel. Through her career, she has performed all 3-women of DON GIOVANNI: Zerlina in New York, Donna Anna in Vienna and has become in particular high demand for her Donna Elvira which she has performed all over the world including the Apollon Theater in Greece, Light Opera of New Jersey, Rhodes International Festival and the State Opera of Liberec in Czechia where her portrayal earned her a nomination for the Best Singer of 2020 at the theater.

 

She has also performed Nedda (PAGLIACCI) with the Singapore Lyric Opera and Opera West in Santa Fe, Musetta (LA BOHÈME) with the Opernspiele Munot in Switzerland, the title role of Handel's (ALCINA) with the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg in Germany, Fiordiligi (COSÌ FAN TUTTE) in Wichita, Micaela (CARMEN) with the Festival Santa Florentina in Spain, Lauretta (GIANNI SCHICCHI) with the State Opera Plovdiv and the State Opera Stara Zagora in Bulgaria, Poppea (L'INCORONAZIONE DI POPPEA) with the Greek Opera Festival in Athens and Angelica (SUOR ANGELICA) in concert performance in California.

 

Recently, she has begun to step into fuller repertoire where she has received rave reviews for her successful role debut as Lady Macbeth (MACBETH) in New York City with the innovative company, Heartbeat Opera, followed by her debut in the complete double bill as Santuzza (CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA) and Nedda (PAGLIACCI) with the Singapore Lyric Opera.

 

Early in her career, she became known for her feisty Susanna (LE NOZZE DI FIGARO) with the Teatro de la Paz in Mexico, Trentino Music Festival in Italy and Manhattan Opera in New York, Despina (COSÌ FAN TUTTE) with the Teatro del Pavone in Italy where she was partnered with La Scala baritone Bruno Praticò as Don Alfonso, Gretel (HÄNSEL UND GRETEL) with the Festival de Opera San Luis in Mexico, Mademoiselle Silberklang (DER SCHAUSPIELDIREKTOR) with the National Theatre of Malta and Adina (L'ELISIR D'AMORE) in Croatia.


Ms. Algozzini is an alumna of many elite music institutions including The Juilliard School, Aspen Music Festival, Renata Scotto Opera Academy in New York, Dolora Zajick Institute for Young Dramatic Voices, Nico Castel's New York Opera Studio, the Opera Studio at l'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome again studying with the legendary soprano Renata Scotto and she now studies with the Romanian dramatic soprano Lavinia Chereches.
