Lisa Algozzini is an Italian-American soprano who has already been recognized for having a powerful stage presence and a voice that possesses a colorful, rich, Italianate quality. Most recently she has sung Musetta in La bohème with the Opernspiele Munot in Switzerland where she was praised for "setting the perfect scene and the audience's favorite" by the Schaffhauser Nachrichten, the title role of Handel's Alcina with the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg in Germany where her portrayal was described by Der Tagesspiegel as "powerful and rich in substance," Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni with the State Opera Liberec in the Czech Republic which was hailed as "a remarkable performance" -OperaPlus, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro at the Trentino Music Festival in Italy, Manhattan Opera in New York and Teatro de la Paz in Mexico, Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel with the Festival de Opera San Luis, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi at the State Opera Plovdiv and the State Opera Stara Zagora, Micaëla in Carmen with Festival Santa Florentina in Spain which was noted by La Vanguardia for her "dramatic intensity," Despina in Così fan tutte at the Teatro del Pavone in Italy where she was partnered with renowned baritone Bruno Praticò as Don Alfonso, Poppea in L'incoronazione di Poppea with the Greek Opera Festival in Athens, Mademoiselle Silberklang in Mozart's Der Schauspieldirektor with the National Theatre of Malta, Zerlina in Don Giovanni in New York, Adina in L'elisir d'amore in Croatia, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni with the Vienna Summer Music Festival, Mahler's Symphony No. 4 with the Tonkünstler Ensemble in Vienna, Guest Soloist in concerts with the Podkarpacka Philharmonic and the Bacau Philharmonic and has made her Carnegie Hall Debut as the 2nd Place Winner of the Nico Castel International Master Singer Competition.
Upcoming performances include Musetta in La bohème with the National Opera of Belgrade, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni with the National Opera of Liberec in the Czech Republic and the Theresiensaal Mödling in Austria, covering Marzelline in Fidelio with the Moving Beethoven Festival in Austria and concerts as the Guest Soloist with the Festiwal Jana Kiepury Krynica-Zdrój in Poland and the Orquestra Sinfônica do Rio Grande do Norte in Brazil.
She is an alumna of many elite music institutions including The Juilliard School, Aspen Music Festival, Renata Scotto Opera Academy in New York, Dolora Zajick Institute for Young Dramatic Voices, Nico Castel's New York Opera Studio and l'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome again studying with her mentor the legendary soprano Renata Scotto. She currently studies in Berlin with the Romanian dramatic soprano, Lavinia Chereches.
Ms. Algozzini has also been the 1st Place Winner in many competitions such as the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg International Singing Competition, Opera Pacific Competition, Opera Director's Choice Award at OCSA, Music Teachers' Association of California Competition, Intimate Opera Competition and the Opera Club of Hollywood Vocal Competition. Her competition credits also include being a Finalist in the Nico Castel International Master Singer Competition (receiving 2nd place at Carnegie Hall, which marked her Carnegie Hall Debut), Concurso de Canto Linus Lerner, Palm Springs Opera Guild Competition, Los Angeles Music Center's Spotlight Awards, Classical Singer Magazine Convention AudComps Young Artist Competition and the Los Angeles Opera Domingo-Thornton Young Artist Program Auditions.
Ms. Algozzini was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and holds both American and Italian citizenship.
